Roditis

Roditis means 'the one that is pink' and so the name has been confusingly applied to many unidentified grape varieties with a pink skin, only some of which are true Roditis. True Roditis itself has several clones of varying quality and is found throughout mainland Greece, but principally in the Peloponnese. In the hands of the best growers, it produces an excellent wine, with a melon fruit character and a broad, soft structure. It is also used to make some of the best modern Retsina.
