Agiorgitiko

If there are two Greek red grape varieties you need to know about, they are Xinomavro and Agiorgitiko. While Xinomavro dominates the scene in the north of the country, Agiorgitiko is much more prominent further south, reaching its most famous expressions in the Peloponnese with Nemea. Agiorgitiko has a good range, making everything from fresh, simple, crowd-pleasing wines to some of Greece's richest, most complex and ageworthy reds.
